Global citizenship is a core focus at UBC, one of the signature goals of the university. This theme explores the growing interconnectedness of the globe, weighing the positive and negative consquences of this ongoing process.
At issue: what are the main forces propelling globalization? What are the consequences for the citizens of the world, and for local communities? What are the various theoretical approaches to understanding this phenomenom? What methods of inquiry can help us sort the actual processes most fundamental to these changes?
The First-Year CAP Seminar (ASTU) stresses writing, both composition and rhetoric, and provides a discussion forum for issues related to both the foregoing and academic scholarship in the Arts Faculty.
18 credits: 3 for Geography 122, 3 for Political Science 260, 6 for Sociology 100, 6 for ASTU 100 (satisfying the Faculty of Arts Writing Requirement).
