Liberal Arts Still Alive and Kicking

From the September 2017 issue of the Canadian Association of University Teachers
on “The Value of Liberal Arts”:
Statistics Canada data shows that in the decade between 2005 and 2015, Canadian enrolment in STEM-related disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) rose by more than 32%, while enrolment in the humanities and social sciences  increased by just less than 17%. However, graduation rates rates remain close with a 36% increase in STEM degrees, and a 31% increase in social sciences and humanities. As a chief executive of one successful company states: “In my experience, the truly irreplaceable jobs — no just of the future but of the present — are the roles that intermingle arts and sciences”.  For more, see:
