The final Community Talks event of the year is an exciting discussion exploring the diverse ways in which different community organizers imagine liberated futurities. It will feature three speakers: Sam Fenn from the Crackdown Podcast, which investigates drug policies by honouring and empowering drug user activists; Janelle LaPointe from the David Suzuki Foundation, which aims to conserve and protect Canada’s natural environment through research, education, and policy analysis; Norm Leech from the Vancouver Aboriginal Community Policing Centre, which strives to address social justice issues, improve the safety of people, and build the relationship between the Vancouver Police Department (VPD) and the Aboriginal community.
Each speaker will share their thoughts, dreams, and ideas, and ultimately invite us to critically imagine the sort of futures we want to inhabit, and how we can work to build them, together.
