About

Robyn Citizen holds a Ph.D in Cinema Studies from New York University.  Her doctoral research focused on cinematic encounters between blackness and Japaneseness in Japanese cinema 1947-1993. Her primary research interests are the ways in which representations of race, ethnicity and national identity circulate between East Asian and North American cinemas, and the horror/science-fiction genres. She has published in edited collections, online and print film journals and presented her research at numerous conferences. In the community, she has created and facilitated media literacy workshops for youth and guest lectured on the social relevance of horror films.
